2 Coaches Suspended In Wake Of Teen's Shooting
CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago schools CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett has warned the school district's coaches if they don't follow the rules of sportsmanship then their programs could be in jeopardy.

Byrd-Bennett made the assertion Wednesday after she announced the suspension of two basketball coaches who were involved in a shouting match after a game and shortly before the shooting death last week of a 17-year-old student. Morgan Park High School coach Nick Irvin and Simeon High School coach Robert Smith were suspended for four games each.

In a letter to the district's coaches, Byrd-Bennett said children's lives are at stake, and coaches should address the behavior of team members and fans. She added what administrators and coaches do to address the issue ``will ultimately determine whether our sports program is promoted or eliminated.''
