Girls Basketball

Round 2 of play in the Western Big 6 girls basketball season begins Thursday night with the Galesburg Silver Streaks traveling to Moline. The Streaks will be looking for a season sweep of the Maroons, after beating them 71-52 in their previous matchup on November 20th in Galesburg. Senior guard Jessica Leiber continues to lead the team, as she scored 28 points in the win over Alleman last week, and added 26 Monday night in the win over Chillicothe IVC. The Streaks are 3-2 in conference play and 13-6 overall heading into Thursday night's matchup, which can be heard on here on WGIL beginning at about 6:40 with Erick Gibson and Jim Lee.

Elsewhere in the Western Big 6 Thursday, league-leader Rock Island plays cross-town rival Alleman, while Quincy travels to United Township.

ROWVA at North Fulton
United at West Central
Geneseo at Ridgewood


College Basketball

The Knox Men and Women are off until Saturday when they host Carroll College. Carroll is leading the Midwest Conference men's standings with a record of 6-2, and 10-3 overall, while Knox is struggling at 1-6 in league play, and 1-11 overall. The Prairie Fire lost Wednesday night at Illinois College 78-62, after leading by two at halftime. The Blueboys outscored the Fire 41-23 to secure the home-court victory.
