Groce Done Analyzing Illini Confidence
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Four losses in Illinois' last six games have stirred memories of last season's collapse but Illini coach John Groce says he's finished discussing his team's confidence.

Groce said Wednesday that maintaining confidence is a part of every coaching job. But the first-year Illinois coach said he's tired of being asked to analyze his players' psyches.

No. 23 Illinois' most recent loss was a 74-51 blowout at Wisconsin that left the Illini (14-4, 1-3 Big Ten) eighth in the conference.

Groce complained his team wasn't as tough against the Badgers as it has been most of the season. He said his players have to "man up and fight."

Illinois hosts Northwestern Thursday.

Groce was hired to fix the Illini after they lost 12 of their last 14 games last season.
