GHS Letters of Intent

A trio of Galesburg athletes plan to play baseball for Quincy University. Nathan Perez, Drew Diaz, and Drake Sykes will sign letters of intent next Thursday morning to play for the Hawks.

Prairieland All-Conference Teams

The Prairieland All-Conference Boys team include a couple of unanimous picks. Sophomore Zach Glisan of Abingdon and senior Noah Lewis of Knoxville are first team picks. A pair of players from Brimfield and another pair from Elmwood were also unanimous picks for the first team.

A pair from Knoxville is on the roster of the All-Conference Girls first team. Senior Tessa Jones and Junior Kelly Lenz represent the Blue Bullets.

High School Hoops

The road to state continues tonight with a battle between Peoria Central and Bartonville Limestone at Bradley for the 3A Sectional Title. Central's late season charge took Galesburg out of the hunt last night.

The 4A Pekin Sectional features a matchup between Western Big Six Champs Rock Island and Edwardsville.

Summit League Honors

The Summit League conference coach of the year is Western Illinois' Jim Molinari. The Leathernecks claimed a share of the Summitt League championship under Molinari. The vote by coaches and media also honored Western senior forward/center Terell Parks as Defensive Player of the Year and Ceola Clark III as a member of the all-Summit first team.

Weekend Sports Coverage
The Cardinals face the Marlins in a Spring Training game that will be heard on WGIL beginning at 11:45am Saturday morning.

Illinois is looking to end the regular season Sunday following the disappointing loss to Iowa on Tuesday.
The 21-10 Illini visit Ohio State with the game scheduled for 11:00am on WGIL. Ilinois is 8-9 in the Big Ten. The Big Ten tournament begins for Illinois next Thursday in Chicago.
