Chicago Mayor Makes Pitch for Super Bowl

CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has made his pitch for another high-profile event to come to Chicago. He and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell discussed the possibility Thursday of Chicago hosting a Super Bowl Goodell says the NFL's 2014 Super Bowl is in an open-air stadium in New York. He says if that one's successful, it opens doors for other cities. Emanuel touted the recent NATO summit as an example of the city's ability to host a big event, with world leaders in town. He says Chicago would be a ''perfect place'' to have a Super Bowl. However, there are obstacles for Chicago hosting the event. Chicago winters are brutal, Soldier Field lacks a roof and it holds just 63,500 fans. Emanuel wouldn't say if Chicago would have to enlarge the stadium. (Copyright 2012 by The Associated Press.
