HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
The winning ways continue for the Abingdon Commandos Football Team. The Commandos routed Peoria Heights 47-6 Saturday, giving them their first loss on the season. Abingdon is 4-2 on the season, and 4-0 in conference play. Josh Swedlund led Abingdon with two touchdowns.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Knox College is now up to 19 losses in a row after getting trounced by Midwest Conference foe Ripon Saturday 42-17. All of Knox's points came in the second quarter.
Monmouth College routed St. Norbert with a 31-9 victory Saturday. Most of Monmouth's scoring came in the 2nd quarter, with 24 points.
HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
Galesburg High School star runner Stephanie Saey broke a school record Saturday at the Peoria High Invitational, running 17:30. Saey was third in the girls side of the meet, and the GHS girls came in 15th out of 43 teams. On the boys side, the GHS Boys placed 46th out of 52 teams.
HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL
GHS Freshman volleyball team went 2-1-1 in the Rock Island Freshman Tournament Saturday, placing them in second. The Silver Streaks defeated Davenport Central and Geneseo in 2 sets each, then split a match with Bettendorf, and lost to Kewanee in 2 sets.
HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER
GHS Boys lost to Pekin 1-0.
HIGH SCHOOL GOLF
United High's boys won their own golf invitational at Gibson Woods in Monmouth Saturday. Mid-County took fifth, Knoxville placed sixth, and Ridgewood came in 8th.
HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING
Galesburg High School's girls J/V squad came in second in their own invitational Saturday. Pleasant Valley came in first, followed by GHS, Davenport Central, Rock Island, Moline, and United Township.

Grinnell 3, Knox 0 (double-dual) Simpson 3, Knox 0 Simpson 3, Grinnell 2
COLLEGE GOLF
Grinnell's women won their own golf invitational Saturday. Monmouth College placed fourth, while Knox College placed 7th out of 7 teams. The Scots' 346 team total was their second lowest score of the season, heading into next week's Midwest Conference Championship.
