The area high school sports schedules are in transition from the fall to winter seasons. Winter means basketball, and Galesburg Silver Streaks boys head coach Mike Reynolds told WGIL that sophomore Grant Gibson will be one of the team leaders this season.

Coach Reynolds will be looking for ballhandlers when practice gets underway next week, after senior point guard Kendall Thompson was declared ineligible for the upcoming season.

The Silver Streaks boy's opening game is set for November 21st against East Peoria. The Galesburg girls, who began two-a-day practices yesterday, will open November 13th against Illini West.
