Monday is the first official day that practices were allowed by the IHSA for boys high school basketball teams. Galesburg Silver Streaks head coach Mike Reynolds says underclassmen are likely to play a big role on this year's varsity squad.

Coach Reynolds adds that the team may be playing at a different tempo this season.

The Silver Streaks boys posted a record of 12 wins and 20 losses last year. They are scheduled to open the new season on Wednesday, November 21st against East Peoria in the Galesburg Thanksgiving Tournament. A "meet the streaks" scrimmage will be held Saturday night for the boys, while the girls will have their public debut Friday night at John Thiel Gym. The Streak's girls will tipoff their season one week from today, when they host Illini West.
