Winter Weather Advisory, Wind Chill Warning for Galesburg Area
UPDATED 3:45pm 1/14/9 If you've been out in it, you probably already know -- but the snow that fell Tuesday night and through mid-morning Wednesday was probably one of the bigger snows we've seen this season.

Trained weather spotters tell the National Weather Service 5.8 inches of snow has fallen in Galesburg. Other spotters say nearly five inches of snow fell in Altona and Dahinda, while Knoxville is just over the five-inch mark.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until six o'clock Wednesday night; forecasters say that's because the cold temperatures and winds picking up are causing all that snow to blow and drift, especially in rural areas, which can also cause near whiteout conditions at times.

As if the snow wasn't bad enough, the extreme cold still has a few days worth of a grip left in the area. Wind chills will continue to be well below zero the next several days -- possibly as low as -35 by tomorrow morning. The actual high temperature is not expected to get out of the below-zero threshold for the first time in a long time tomorrow.

Temperatures are expected to near 30-degrees by the start of next week.
