Lincoln Legal Documents Available Online
Even lawyers back in Abe Lincoln's day had a lot of paper work to file, and a new website run by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum proves it.

Before he became the nation's 16th president, Lincoln was hard at work as a lawyer, working cases across the state. Now paper work filed by Lincoln with various courts is available online.

The Law Practice of Abraham Lincoln, Second Edition, encompasses all of the documents and information from the first publication put out in 2000 by the University of Illinois Press as well as additional papers found while researchers worked on a revised print edition. All of those documents, says Daniel Stowell, director and editor of The Papers of Abraham Lincoln, are available online by CLICKING HERE.

Stowell says the site contains thousands of documents but says he can't call the collection complete. He says many original documents were lost in floods and fires with no copies available.

The site has come online ahead of Lincolns 200th birthday.
