Hare Talks About His Inauguration Experience -- DOWNLOAD FULL INTERVIEW HERE
A local Congressman says he was struck just like everyone else at the sea of humanity that saw President Barack Obama take the Oath of Office Tuesday.

17th District Congressman Phil Hare was in attendance at the Inauguration, and says while it was his first presidential inauguration, he talked with some other Congressmen who had been through a few, and even they couldn't believe how huge of an event it had become.

Hare tells WGIL oh yeah, the speech wasn't bad either. "I was impressed with the fact that he challenged the citizenry of America," Hare said. "(Obama) said this isn't going to be easy, and it's not going to be solved in a matter of a couple of months. But, this nation has come back from some very dark times, and we can do it again. I think he was trying to instill, at least for me, and I can say for a lot of the members (of Congress) I was sitting with, a real sense of 'we can do this.'"

The Galesburg native and Rock Island Democrat says he was also happy to hear the President mention that he wanted the divisiveness and finger-pointing in Washington to end. He says his first term in Congress was filled with that sort of behavior, and he too wants it to end.
