Emergency Plane Landing in Rural Warren County
Officials in Warren County say they've wrapped up their portion of an investigation of a plane that had to make an emergency landing in a farm field near Abingdon.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Edwards says the incident happened after five o'clock Thursday evening in the area of Illinois Route 116, three-miles west of the Knox/Warren County line. Edwards says 71-year old Robert Donnelly of Abingdon had reported engine problems and tried to make that emergency landing.

Edwards says the Challenger-two Ultralight plane struck a fence while landing, resulting in some nose and landing gear damage. Donnelley was the only one in the plane, and he wasn't believed to have been hurt.

Edwards says the matter has been referred to aviation officials in Peoria.

Abingdon firefighters, a Galesburg ambulance, and Warren County Sheriffs Deputies all responded to the scene.
