Quinn: Blago Doesn't Get Impeachment Process
Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn says Gov. Rod Blagojevich is missing the point of the impeachment process. Quinn's comments came a little over three hours after Blagojevich spoke on a Chicago radio program Friday morning.

On the show, Blagojevich repeated his claim that state legislators are trying to get him out of office quickly so that they can pass "huge" increases on income and gas taxes.

Quinn disagrees.

"I think [Blagojevich] should realize that the people of Illinois and members of the senate are serious about a very important constitution responsibility," Quinn said. He pointed at a $7-$8 billion gross receipts tax that Quinn says Blagojevich introduced two years ago. Quinn says he spoke against the tax and the measure never passed out of the house.

Quinn did tip toe around question of whether or not he would raise taxes should he become governor but said that the state must pay its bills. He adds that he's against an "unfair" tax system.

Quinn also reacted to governors comments that the next governor wouldn’t get much done because of fear of impeachment. Quinn says, "If you do the right thing then you don't have anything to fear."
