Police Identify Victim of Fatal Accident
Local authorities are identifying the woman who was killed in a single vehicle accident near the Soangetaha Country Club early Monday morning.

The Knox County Sheriff's Department says 41-year old Michelle Roberts of Galesburg was the only occupant in the vehicle, which police discovered had slammed into a power pole at Knox Highway 7 and Fairway Road.

Deputies say they responded to a passerby's report around 5:35 a-m Monday and found a Mercury Sable on its driver's side and its top against the pole. Authorities say Roberts was in the vehicle and unresponsive. Knox County Deputy Coroner Dan Gentry pronounced her dead at the scene. Roberts' body was then taken to Peoria for an autopsy.

Officials say the accident remains under investigation by both the Knox County Sheriff's Office and the Galesburg Police Department.
