FBI Tapes Played at Impeachment Trial -- LINK TO TAPES HERE
The Illinois Senate chamber was motionless Tuesday afternoon as the prosecution played FBI wiretap tapes. The four short phone conversations from November and December are being played in the impeachment trial of Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

The governor's voice is heard along with his brother, Rob Blagojevich, or with "Lobbyist 1," discussing gaining something from racetrack executive John Johnston. In one conversation, the governor says twice, "Before the end of the year, right?" His brother responds, "Yeah, yeah." They're likely referring to pulling in large campaign donations before donation limits took effect on Jan. 1.

While the tapes don't last long, their impact is immeasurable. Senators sat motionless as they were played, and then the senators read the transcripts. The tapes were played again after a break.

The tapes, in audio format along with the transcripts, are available by CLICKING HERE.
