Impeachment Hearings Expected to Wrap Up This Week
The impeachment process continues at a fast pace in Springfield with House on a timetable that calls for the Special Impeachment Committee to wrap up by the end of the week.

While State Representative Karen Yarbrough (D-Maywood) is not on the committee, she says she has talked with some Committee members. "I've talked to people there …I'm looking to hear what they've come up with," Yarbrough said. Yarbrough says she will not make up her mind about impeachment until she hears what evidence the committee has gathered.

Yarbrough says members of the House have been told to report to Springfield Thursday, but the process remains fluid and that could change. The House could take action on the Impeachment Committee's findings by the end of the week or early next week.

Meanwhile, defense lawyers for Governor Rod Blagojevich are hearing secretly recorded tapes on Wednesday that purport to reveal that the governor was actively shaking down people for campaign contributions, including a member of the horse racing industry. If the attorneys do not object to the tapes' use, members of the Special Impeachment Committee may be allowed access to them.
