Elmwood Man Arrested After Allegedly Firing Gun on New Year's Eve
A man accused of twice firing shots at a house party earlier this week is facing multiple gun-related charges.

The Knox County Sheriff's Department says deputies responded to a report of shots fired and criminal damage to property at 1757 Knox Highway around 9:20 p-m Wednesday. Authorities say a group of guests were at a house party when they heard what was believed to be a gun shot from outside the residence and saw a vehicle flee. Nobody was hurt.

Police say another gun shot was fired about ten minutes later and struck a parked vehicle at the residence. Further investigation led deputies to 25-year old Jeremy Stevens of Elmwood. Stevens was arrested at a local hospital, where officials say he was being treated for a laceration from a non-related incident.

Stevens, police believe, is the ex-boyfriend of a woman who was attending the New Year's Eve party. He's facing preliminary charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, felony criminal damage to property and telephone harassment.

Authorities say they recovered from the scene a spent .20 gauge shell casing and a .20 gauge shotgun.

Stevens is being held in the Knox County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
