Impeachment Committee Likely Won't Hear Blago Wiretapped Calls
The Illinois House Special Impeachment committee will likely not hear secret FBI wiretaps between Gov. Rod Blagojevich and others.

Chief Judge James Holderman said while the court tries to accommodate everyone, the timetable set by the court and the timetable set by the Committee just don’t match up.

Sheldon Sorosky, one Blagojevich's attorneys, told the court that the House was "torpedoes away" and did not need the tapes making the request for them a moot point. Lawyers for others allegedly heard conversing with the governor expressed concerns about the tapes being made public.

David Ellis, general counsel for the House Committee asked the court to consider having the tapes released in time for the Senate trial, assuming that the House votes to impeach. He says the more information the better when ensuring that Senate members, who basically act as jurors, know all the facts.

The tapes may be made available at the end of the month, giving the Senate a chance to review them. All parties will appear in court on January 23rd for a status hearing.

The entire House is expected to meet Friday and vote on impeachment.
