Dozens Back in Prison After Parole Crackdown
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn's administration has put more than 100 criminals released early from prisons back behind bars in a strict parole crackdown.

The Corrections Department confirms it has begun "intensive compliance checks" on parolees set free under the so-called ``MGT Push'' program, which has been discontinued.

State records reviewed by The Associated Press show the department has picked up 110 of the 1,700 MGT Push parolees in the last ten days.

Those still on the street are subject to strict new guidelines. A form parolees must sign that was obtained by the AP indicates they must check in by phone daily, visit a parole office twice weekly and refrain from drinking alcohol.

Quinn stopped MGT Push after the AP revealed that some violent inmates were released weeks early.
