FIRST ON WGIL: Moffitt Somewhat Agreeable with Quinn's State of the State Speech
Some Republicans are already coming out on the attack against Governor Pat Quinn following Wednesday's State of the State address, but at least one isn't so ready to do that.

74th District State Representative Don Moffitt says he listened closely to Quinn's speech, and found that the Governor's remarks were sincere, and there was a lot that he could agree with.

Moffitt tells WGIL he agrees with Quinn in that job creation is the most important issue for Illinois, since that brings money into the state when it's really needed most.

"If we're really working on our economy, getting it on track, we're also dealing with budget needs, because that means more revenue for the state," Moffitt said. "Obviously, getting the bills paid -- we have local vendors, local providers...I had a call from one (Wednesday). The state is so far behind we're causing them great difficulty."

Moffitt says he believes Quinn also signaled a willingness to work with the legislature on taxes, and that it was important to reform tax laws, and not just focus solely on raising taxes.

Quinn is believed to have used notes and not a full-blown script in Wednesday's speech, and Moffitt says he didn't mind that being done at all.
