Group Wants Quinn to Answer MGT Questions
A coalition of victims' rights advocates is calling on Gov. Pat Quinn to address unanswered questions about the accelerated meritorious good time program, which allowed the release of over 1,700 prisoners, some of them violent offenders.

Jennifer Bishop-Jenkins of IllinoisVictims.org wants to know why victims weren't notified about those released inmates. She says not notifying victims is a clear disregard for a provision in Illinois' Constitution.

Bishop-Jenkins is also questioning the cost of the whole debacle.

Quinn terminated the program after hearing about it in news reports. He claims to have had no knowledge of the program, which was overseen by Department of Corrections Director Michael P. Randle.

Jenkins says the complete list and record of those released can be found online at www.illinoisvicitims.org.

The release of prisoners under the "MGT Push" program was separate from another cost-saving program under which Quinn authorized the release of 1,000 non-violent offenders.
