Former State Senator Endorses Candidate for Governor
A Republican candidate for governor gets the endorsement of one of Illinois' leading conservatives of decades past.

Former State Sen. Patrick O'Malley, who has laid low in politics since losing the Republican primary for governor in 2002, is endorsing Adam Andrzejewski. O'Malley says he examined Andrzejewski carefully before making the endorsement, and discovered that Andrzejewski has "no political baggage, and that's a very important find in this particular election season," O'Malley said.

O'Malley was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1992, and even though Republicans had a majority then, he and four others elected that year made life hard on leadership and their business-as-usual ways.

Andrzejewski says O'Malley still has followers, and the endorsement can help him win.

Andrzejewski campaigned in Galesburg on Thursday.
