Local Dog in National Competition
An area resident is hopeful some four-legged friend of hers will shine in a national spotlight this weekend.

Jean Jacobs and her husband own so-called "dock dogs", and one of them -- a male yellow lab named "Casey" -- will be taking part in the national "Incredible Dog Challenge" sponsored by a national dog food company this weekend and will be broadcast on ABC-Television.

Jacobs tells W-G-I-L it's not the first time yellow labradors of theirs have been a part of the national challenge, but there is something about it that is unique.

"His brother and he and his sister have all been to the Incredible Dog Challenge," Jacobs said. "Our claim to fame is we are the first family of dogs to ever make it to Purina Incredible Dog Challenge, which is an elite group of dogs...to make it to the top four in the finals."

Jacobs says one of Casey's sisters named Missy has had puppies of her own now and they're starting to jump pretty high, too. She isn't ruling out having them compete when they're old enough and can jump far enough.

The Incredible Dog Challenge from St. Louis will air Sunday afternoon at 2:30 on A-B-C. You can find out more information at www.purina.com/incredible-dog-challenge/index.aspx.
