Neighbor: Stacy Peterson Said "I'm Already Dead"
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) -- A neighbor of former Bolingbrook police officer Drew Peterson says he showered his fourth wife with gifts to dissuade her from leaving him.

Sharon Bychowski told a pretrial hearing Monday that Stacy Peterson once described how Drew Peterson bought her a motorcycle and a ring.

But holding up her ring, Stacy Peterson told Bychowski the gifts wouldn't work and that Drew Peterson couldn't stop her from leaving.

Earlier Monday, Bychowski said Stacy Peterson was convinced her husband would kill her.

Days before Stacy Peterson's disappearance in 2007, Bychowski told her to write down what she was saying. A sobbing Bychowski recalled that Stacy Peterson responded: "'It doesn't matter. I'm already dead.'"

Drew Peterson currently faces trial in the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. He's pleaded not guilty.
