Man Jailed for Alleged Gas Station Robbery
FIRST REPORTED 3:00pm 1/25/10 A Galesburg man is jailed on charges accusing him of robbing a Galesburg gas station and convenience store Saturday evening.

Galesburg Police were called to Casey's on West Main Street around 10 o'clock Saturday night. There, reports indicate, a man dressed in green overalls and a black mask, with socks covering his hands, entered the store and demanded money -- all while, employees say, he kept one hand in his coat pocket.

Police say the employees gave him money in a plastic bag, and then the man left the scene, possibly headed toward West Street.

Investigators say a man later identified as 42-year old Unree Moultrie the Third was arrested a short time later, hiding near the Cedar Creek bridge, where he had allegedly attempted to get rid of the mask.

Investigators don't believe Moultrie ever actually pulled a gun, and say a search turned up the money.

Moultrie faces a felony charge of armed robbery and was transported to the Knox County Jail to await court proceedings.

Investigators say a third employee in the store at the time of the alleged robbery apparently never heard anyone enter the store and try to commit a robbery.
