State Plans to Stock Catfish in Rock River
STERLING, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois Department of Natural Resources plans to stock two types of catfish in the Rock River this year to help rebuild the river's fishery.

Tens of thousands of sport fish died in the Rock River last June.

The agency plans to add up to 100 pairs of flathead catfish. DNR also plans to both stock channel catfish from state fisheries in the river and relocated channel cats from other locations.

DNR says it stocked the river with smallmouth bass and northern pike last summer and channel catfish last fall.
