Man Sues Cops and Former Prosecutors He Says Framed Him in ISU Killing
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- A Rockford man who spent 13 years in prison before his murder conviction was thrown out says prosecutors and investigators who he claims framed him need to be held accountable.

Alan Beaman was convicted in 1995 and sentenced to 50 years in prison in the death of Illinois State University student Jennifer Lockmiller, his ex-girlfriend. The state Supreme Court threw out the conviction in 2008.

Beaman has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Peoria. He accuses five current and former police officers and two former prosecutors, who both are now local judges, of framing him.

Beaman says his family is almost half a million dollars in debt over the case.

The lawsuit claims prosecutors ignored evidence that could have supported Beaman's alibi. The lawsuit also says evidence implicating another man was ignored.

The lawsuit's defendants couldn't be immediately reached for comment.
