U.S. Senate Candidate Makes Last Minute Stop in Galesburg
He didn't give too much notice, but a candidate for U.S. Senate stopped in Galesburg Friday afternoon.

Current State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias met with potential voters at a downtown coffee shop yesterday...and told reporters he likes to think of himself as one of the few candidates in the race that's actually campaigning outside of Chicago or Springfield.

Giannoulias tells WGIL he has ideas on how to bring jobs back to Galesburg and to Illinois.

"My proposal includes a job creation tax credit for small businesses that hire within the next 90 days," Giannoulias said. "We're (also) talking about a payroll tax holiday for low to moderate income workers who made less than $75,000, closing the corporate loophole for companies that ship jobs overseas, taking $50-billion from money that's been paid back to TARP (and) working with the SBA to make sure that money is lent out small business owners that need access to capital because they can't make it alone or their line of credit's been tapped."

The Chicago Democrat claims he's really the only candidate who has talked about issues and has formed actual plans he's presented to voters.

Giannoulias is one of four democrats vying for President Obama's old Senate seat in Tuesday's election. You can hear a debate between them as part of our election preview Sunday starting at noon on WGIL.
