Bodies Found in Suburban Cargo Plane Crash
Authorities found the bodies of two men in the wreckage of a small cargo jet that crashed on the banks of the Des Plaines River in a forest preserve in Glenview, Illinois, Tuesday afternoon. The plane had taken off from Pontiac, Michigan suburb of Waterford, Michigan and was headed to Chicago Executive Airport (formerly Palwaukee Airport) in Wheeling, where the crew would have picked up cargo to fly to Georgia.

Chicago Executive Airport is about 15 miles Northwest of Chicago in Cook County.

Glenview Fire Chief Wayne Globeberger said the bodies are believed to be the pilot and co-pilot. There were no passengers.

A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration said in a recorded message that agency is investigating the crash on the banks of the Des Plaines River.

The jet was on its final approach to Chicago Executive Airport when it crashed. Authorities say it was 20 seconds from landing when it went down.

The FAA says the jet was registered to Waterford, Michigan-based Royal Air Freight.
