Galesburg School District Receives Master Facilities Plan Bids
Something an official with the Galesburg School District says hasn't really been done there before is something that he also says is going quite well.

Normally not an exciting event, a bid opening was held yesterday for architects interested in doing work on the first phase of the district's 110-million dollar Master Facilities Plan. Out of around two-dozen different firms that initially expressed interest in the plan, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Guy Cahill says around 16 firms submitted requests for quotes.

Cahill says that's a good thing.

"That's a pretty good response for Galesburg and we want to be certain to thank all of the firms for the obvious work they put in if only from the weight and heft of the boxes opened and from the PDF files that we've opened and the obvious attention to detail as seen in the materials put together."

In addition to the PDF document each firm was asked to submit, they also submitted large amounts of paper documents, some arriving at the District 205 headquarters in FedEx boxes and envelopes, and at least one having so much material it was in a box that once had rolls of paper towels.

The firms will be whittled down by a committee to four, then those will compete in a design competition for the over 30 million dollars worth of work to Steele, Lombard, Lincoln, and Galesburg High Schools.
