Western Illinois President to be Named Next Week
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) -- Western Illinois University trustees have scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday at the university's Macomb, when they will announce the appointment of the school's 11th president.

The new hire will replace Al Goldfarb, who will retire in June. Goldfarb took office July 1, 2002. He led the university during a period the state of Illinois decided to reduce its financial support for higher education.

Finalists for the post include WIU provost Jack Thomas, Edinboro State University president Jeremy Brown, Northern Michigan University provost Susan Koch, and Tim Hudson, special assistant to the chancellor for international studies and initiatives at the University of Houston.

In addition to introducing the new president in Macomb, a second introduction event will be held at the Western Illinois-Quad Cities campus in Moline.
