New Health Department Strategic Plan Going Shorter than Before
It's time for the Knox County Board of Health to begin a new strategic planning process.

Members were asked during Thursday night's meeting to brainstorm over current trends in the community and health and medical fields.

Administrator Heidi Britton says the current plan has dealt with a lot of changes and they should take that into consideration for the next one.

"This is a five year plan, it's based on our I-Plan, I-Plan is five years. So my recommendation to the board is that instead of doing a five year plan for the county health department, do a three year plan. Let's cut it back a little bit, especially if we become a [federally qualified health clininc] we could be back here in two years doing a strategic plan to make sure that you all are guiding this health department and that we are following your direction."

With the possible addition of the Federally Qualified Health Center, the plan may see changes beyond what the board might initially expect.

They hope to approve a plan by May.
