ARRP Says Tax Increase was Necessary for Proper Care
(IRN)-One group representing Illinois' Senior Citizens says while folks don't like increased taxes, it is necessary to keep care providers open for business.

AARP Illinois director Bob Gallo says while no one likes a tax hike, the recent income tax increase signed into law is a step in the right direction.

"When you think about the various providers organizations out there that haven't been paid for six months who can't give the services that people need to live comfortably with dignity in their own homes, you know, those folks need to get paid so they can continue to provide those services," Gallo said.

Gallo adds that it's important that his members and everyone else in the state realize the dire situation when it comes to the state's budget and the back log of bills that must be paid.
