Residency Case Continues Against Emanuel
CHICAGO (AP) -- Lawyers argued about what residency means as a case challenging Rahm Emanuel's right to run for mayor of Chicago works its way through the courts.

The Illinois Appellate Court heard arguments Wednesday, and both sides are waiting for the decision.

The lawyer for two voters who say the former White House chief of staff doesn't qualify to be on the ballot has promised to take the case all the way to the Illinois Supreme Court, if necessary.

The voters contend Emanuel shouldn't be allowed on the ballot because he doesn't meet a one-year residency requirement to run to replace the retiring Mayor Richard Daley. Until October, Emanuel lived for nearly two years in Washington.

The Chicago Board of Election Commissioners and a circuit court judge have said Emanuel can be on the Feb. 22 ballot.
