Davlin's Death Ruled Suicide
(IRN)-The death of Springfield's mayor a month ago has been ruled a suicide.

A Sangamon County inquest jury heard few new details about the Dec. 14 death of 53 year old Tim Davlin. Coroner Susan Boone said there was no evidence of alcohol or other drugs in Davlin's system.

A State Police investigator, Sgt. Brad Sterling, said a six shot revolver and a cordless landline telephone were found in Davlin's SUV. Davlin was in the passenger seat, shot through the chest at very close range.

Davlin had let a filing deadline pass with no announcement of whether he would seek a third term as mayor. Before and since his death, news has surfaced of financial problems, including irregularities in a relative's estate for which he was executor. While Davlin was dying in his garage, a judge was awaiting him in court to answer allegations he had mishandled the estate.
