Discussion on Orpheum Energy Project Delayed
The Knox County Civic Center Authority Board had hoped to have a special meeting this month regarding the proposed heating and air conditioning upgrades planned for the Orpheum Theatre, but that's been delayed.

Theatre president Kate Francis told the Knox County Civic Center Authority board yesterday that the proposed contract with Wisconsin and Quad Cities-based Johnson Controls isn't yet ready, because details are still being modified by both sides, including the theatre's attorney.

The plan is now expected to cost $900,000, assuming all that money can be raised, of which a good portion of it has. No word on when the contract might be discussed, but it likely would be sometime next month.

Francis did tell the board yesterday that the theatre recorded a 2010 profit if just over $23,000, not counting income restricted to the theatre's capital improvements, which she said was very good, and should continue to dispel rumors that the theatre isn't doing well at all.

Francis says she's also received about $23,000 in sponsorships for the Red Carpet Series, more than she anticipated.

The series will be formally announced February first, including an interview that day on the WGIL Morning News.
