Master Facilities Committee Whittles Down Architects
The Galesburg School District's new Master Facilities Plan Implementation Committee has completed their first big assignment, and will soon embark on another.

The committee whittled down the number of architects who were interested in doing the first 30-million dollars worth of life safety and other work at Lincoln, Lombard, Steele, and Galesburg High Schools from well over a dozen Thursday, to 8, that have been scheduled for in-person interviews next week on either Wednesday or Thursday.

The committee also discussed and whittled down what questions they would ask the architects during the interviews. One came from a group led by local businessman Bob Fulton.

"What are the critical design concepts that should be included in the different educational age levels? We readily admit this question could be refined somewhat, but what we're getting at is, what are we looking at Pre-K, what are we looking at K through five, what are we looking at six through eight, what are we looking at nine through twelve."

Each architect would be asked as many as six questions during their presentation time. Some they may know ahead of time, some not.

The final three or four will be asked to compete in a competition to design the work to be done at Steele.
