Kirk Feels Good About China/U.S. Relationship
(IRN)-U.S. Senator Mark Kirk says he is optimistic about the future relations between Illinois and China.

Speaking after major agriculture business deals were made between soybean producers and exporters and several China-based businesses, Kirk says business relations between the state and China have been good so far. He says deals like these are good for relations.

"For good and ill, in my view, [China] is the No. 1 diplomatic relationship for the United States," Kirk said.

He believes given Illinois’ record with China, trading will continue to grow. "Illinois is now the sixth-largest exporter to China with about $2.5 billion in sales," Kirk said. "Illinois' exports to China have grown a staggering 363 percent. This compares to just a 26 percent growth in the rest of the world."

Kirk also predicts that as agriculture technology continues to yield more per acre, Illinois' soybean industry will grow.
