Worker Dies in Accident at University of Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- The University of Iowa says a construction worker has died after an accident while working to restore a flood damaged art building.

UI spokesman Tom Moore says the worker was pronounced dead at the scene on Monday. He says the worker was employed by a private contractor, and the worker's name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Moore says preliminary reports indicate the accident happened along the shore of a pond near Art Building West, which has been closed since the flood of 2008. Workers are in the process of repairing that building so the art school can move back in next year, and constructing a removable flood wall for protection.

Moore says the university extends "heartfelt condolences to the worker's family, friends and community."
