Quinn Signs Medicaid Reform into Illinois Law
CHICAGO (AP) -- Governor Pat Quinn has signed Medicaid reform into Illinois law.

Quinn signed the legislation Tuesday in downtown Chicago. He was joined by lawmakers of both parties, who lauded the legislation as a bipartisan effort.

The Illinois Legislature sent Quinn the measure on Jan. 6. Lawmakers say it aims to reduce costs, pay bills sooner and target fraud.

Quinn says Medicaid reform efforts are one part of his plan to ``stabilize our budget.'' Illinois is working to plug a budget hole that is projected to hit $15 billion in the coming year.

Republican state Rep. Patricia Bellock spoke at the governor's bill signing. Bellock says lawmakers had questions as they started working on the reform effort. But she says now Republicans ``are thrilled with the outcome.''
