Two Principals Resign from Abingdon
FIRST REPORTED 12pm 1/25/11 The Abingdon School District now will have to hire two, and probably three, administrative positions before the start of the coming school year.

That's because in addition to the already announced departure of Superintendent Tami Roskamp, Abingdon High School Principal Chad Cox was hired Monday night as principal of Galva Junior/Senior High School, and Roskamp says Junior High Principal Stan Adcock is resigning to accept a superintendent's position in the Brown County School District in Mount Sterling.

As for his position, Cox tells WGIL he feels going to Galva was the right move for him.

"I felt like it's a really good fit for me and my field, and I'm a small town guy, growing up in small communities and working in small communities. I was really excited about, you know, it is a small rural town and that's where I'd like to be."

Cox has been with the district six years, and Adcock has been with District 217 about as long.

Roskamp says both resignations will be taken up at an already scheduled special board meeting Wednesday night. The board had intended on cutting one administrative position as part of budget deficit reduction efforts, but Roskamp says it's not clear if they'll still go that same direction now.
