Lawmaker Targets Pensions
(IRN)-Pensions are a popular target among people talking about government expenses. State Representative Jack Franks is targeting pensions of future lawmakers.

Franks says being in the legislature is supposed to be a part-time job, adding he himself is eligible for approximately $3,000 a month once he reaches age 55. He's sponsoring a bill that would bar those taking office in 2013 or later from participating in the General Asembly's pension plan. He says the legislature, however, cannot reverse benefits which have already accrued.

Franks is also sponsoring a bill that would make the back to school sales tax holiday, which was in effect Aug. 6-15 of last year, an annual event. Franks says it's a benefit for parents and stimulates the economy through more activity. The state suspended the sales tax those days on back to school items and clothes (clothing items under $100).
