Master Facilities Committee Picks Final Four Architects
It's down to the final four for who could be responsible for the first $30 million worth of work in the Galesburg School District's $110 million Master Facilities Plan.

The Master Facilties Plan Implementation committee made up of District-205 officials, businesspeople, and parents interviewed 8 architectural firms over two days this week (Wednesday and Thursday) to determine which one might get the job of rehab and upgrade work at Lincoln, Lombard, Steele, and Galesburg High Schools.

In the end, the group of eight was narrowed down to four, but even businessman Bob Fulton had concerns about all of that, and for that matter, so did resident Mike Kroll.

Fulton-"We're kind of left to make a subjective decision because we don't have time to get all the objective facts on all eight firms."
Kroll-"This is sort of architectural speed dating."

In the end, though, the committee chose Saint Louis-based Ittner Architects, Minnesota-based Wold Architects and Engineers, Peoria-based PSA Dewberry, and Aurora-based Cordogan Clark.

They'll compete in a competition of sorts to essentially design the work to be done at Steele. But before that, the Master Facilities committee will meet Monday to discuss the benefits of having a performance contractor, and some other issues.
