Recored in Community College Degrees, Certificates
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- A record number of students completed degree or certificate programs at Illinois community colleges in the 2010 fiscal year.

A report released Friday by the Illinois Community College Board also finds that a record number of credit hours were taken by students during the same period.

The number of completions in degree and certificate programs was 56,844 for the last fiscal year -- more than 3,800 above the previous record in 2009.

Another indication of growth: The statewide fiscal year 2010 headcount enrollment is at its fourth highest, 730,335, since the community college board began keeping those figures in 1973. Only three years in the early 1980s exceeded the fiscal year 2010 mark.
