New City Manager Sworn In
Galesburg Mayor Sal Garza so far has nothing but good things to say about the city's newest hire...

"He may be young in appearance, but he is wise in experience and in terms of his life experience as well. I want to make sure that you have every opportunity to be successful in this community."

Garza spoke as new City Manager Todd Thompson was given his oath of office this morning. Thompson takes over the $122,500 post vacated by Dane Bragg's departure last year.

Thompson tells WGIL the big problem continuing to impact Galesburg in the next year or so: the economy.

"Trying to position ourselves to take advantage of hopefully what we'll see as improvements and also adjustment as organization to some of the challenges related to revenue constraints."

Thompson says a revenue structure is always changing, even in good times, and funding city programs and services is always a challenge.

This week, Thompson will be meeting with city staff, and getting to know the community better.
