Illinois Session Cancelled
(IRN)-The Illinois House and Senate are not taking any chances with the weather. Because of the predicted snow, ice, and winds statewide, the General Assembly has cancelled its sessions and committee hearings for the week.

Steve Brown, spokesman for House Speaker Mike Madigan, says he can recall days on which things were cancelled, but not entire weeks.

Brown says there is no provision or requirement for make-up days, though he does anticipate people working longer hours on some days to make sure legislation can be heard. Brown describes this stage of the legislative year as "organizational."

Both chambers are scheduled to be in session Feb. 8.
