Timeline in Place for Abingdon Superintendent Search
The Abingdon School Board has put some guidelines in place for whomever they hire to become their next superintendent.

The District-217 board Wednesday afternoon worked on what they'll put into a small brochure available for download, for anyone who wants to replace Tami Roskamp, who's resignation to become Superintendent of the Beecher school district was also approved.

Illinois Association of School Boards Executive Search Department Head Donna Johnson says no matter what those qualifications are, it's clear the board wants to have the hiring done before the April election.

"Sometimes the board that hires a superintendent, isn't the board that they work for and there are always challenges there, but again it sounds like you all are making a commitment to stay on, to run."

Six people, including two newcomers, are running for four open seats on the Abingdon School Board.

The board set an application deadline of February fourth, with interviews of up to six candidates on February 15th and 16th.

It's likely a special meeting will be called in March to vote on a potential candidate.
