BREAKING NEWS: Former Galesburg Alderman Dies
UPDATED 10:16am 1/6/11 A former longtime Galesburg alderman has passed away.

Officials with the Watson Funeral Home in Galesburg say Tony Gerk, Senior, passed away Thursday morning at a local hospital. He was 65.

The Galesburg City Clerk's office says Gerk served 12 years as an Alderman representing the Fourth Ward from May of 1993 until May of 2005. He was unseated by Lomac Payton.

Gerk tried to reclaim the seat in the 2009 consolidated election, but was unsuccessful.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced by Watson.
