Man Charged in Two Meth Cases Not Sure of Plea Deal
A Galesburg man says he needs more time to consider a plea deal in a pair of methamphetamine cases he's been charged in.

40-year old Robert Miner Junior was in Knox County Circuit Court Wednesday, for what was to be a bench trial in one of the two felony meth cases he's been arrested on. But, prosecutors and public defender Jim Harrell worked out a plea deal.

Miner, however, seemed surprised by that, when he told Judge Scott Shiplett he thought he was only supposed to be in court on one of the cases, so he asked for time to discuss the matter with his family.

Shiplett said yes, and that he didn't want to rush Miner into anything.

Under the proposed plea deal, Miner would have pleaded guilty to one count in each case, with the other counts being dismissed. He'd be sentenced to a total of eight years in prison between both cases.

Miner was arrested in April, allegedly involved in a methamphetamine lab. Records indicate while he was out on bond in that case, Miner was arrested again -- in November -- on similar charges.

The cases will be back in court January 25th. Meantime, Miner remains jailed.
