First Snowfall Packs a Punch
What was the first measureable snowfall of the year for the area turned out to pack quite a punch.

The National Weather Service says for the most part, between four and five inches of that up-to-now unfamiliar white stuff fell across the area.

In Knox County, forecasters say a total of just over four-inches of snow was reported as of around 8pm in Knoxville. Two inches of snow had fallen in Galesburg already by 9am Thursday, triggering the city's first snow emergency. Cars for the time being still need to be left off the streets until emergency has been lifted.

Five inches of snow was reported in Bradford in Stark County, the largest total in the area so far. The Good Hope area of McDonough county was reported as having four-and-a-half inches of snow there.

Forecasters say there will be some winds near 20 miles per hour Friday, and while that may still blow some snow around, the bigger problem will be wind chills close to zero. After a 55-plus degree day Wednesday, Friday's high won't even hit 20.

A brief warm-up will culminate with some rain and highs around 45 by Monday according to forecasters, but more winter-like temperatures are being forecast for the rest of next week.
